Title: This is Everything
Author: Marianna
Characters: Logan, Veronica. Duncan, Lilly mentions.
Spoilers/Warnings: S1/S2 stuff, and the preview for next week would probably do it.
Word Count: 566
Rating: PG-13
Summary: A V POV fic set during a clip from the preview for next week's episode. Written also with the
100_situations prompt 'late'.
Author's Notes: I wrote one fic where it was straight Logan perspective, so this is sort of the flipside, with a look into V's head. I hope you like it. I guess this is my version of cutting Veronica slack.
I love you, Veronica. Don’t you love me? He asks, and the whole world crashes down.
You’ve played this game before. You’ve danced this dance. You’ve laughed it off, and kissed him harder. You’ve come so close to whispering the words back that you scared yourself.
You’ve never let yourself that close again, even though you’ve done this, and it’s late-it’s something like 3, and you absolutely cannot deal with this right now.
I-
You can’t actually speak though, and the words stay lodged in your throat, and you’re gasping outright, and you don’t know what’s wrong with you, but you’re still a little unsteady on your feet from…before, and you just can’t.
He is the boy.
He is not supposed to expect this from you. This is all turned around, and you have to turn your head away, because you can’t look at him, and those eyes of his that are breaking right in front of you. You can’t. You did not sign on for this. You tell him so, hoping that you can still get a smile out of him at least.
This was heading for disaster from the start-dating your dead best friend’s boyfriend is never a good idea, especially considering that his MIA best friend used to be your boyfriend who is now on the run with his dead ex girlfriend’s baby. You’re feeling dizzy. You can’t handle this…all of this.
Which is your life, basically.
It’s simple, Veronica; he’s saying, and you’ve always loved the way he says your name, breaking it into syllables, and letting his voice trip over them. You close your eyes, because you love his voice, and the way it washes over you even though what he’s saying is killing you bit by bit. It’s a three-word combination. Either you say it back or you don’t. It’s all up to you.
You blink again, and try to swallow even though your throat doesn’t seem to be cooperating, and you can feel the tears on your cheeks; slipping down from your lashes and making marks on your face. You bite your lip as a sigh shudders through you, because these are definitely break up tears.
Over the years, you’ve learned how to categorize them.
Do you understand-
You don’t know where those words came from, because as far as you know, your eyes are still closed, and you’re trying hard to concentrate on breathing. Talking isn’t a step you didn’t know you were prepared to take.
I can’t deal with this right now, Logan please.
You can feel your bottom lip wobbling, and your hands are shaking, and you can’t lose him. If this is his version of an ultimatum, you concede. You cannot do it.
You can’t.
I can’t lose you; you whisper, and you have no idea where that came from either, desperation maybe, because it’s a split second later, and his face has cleared, and he’s walking towards you, and his hands, when they settle on your skin, are so warm.
You won’t. You couldn’t possibly. He whispers back and his words make soothing patterns against the skin your brow. You want to sink into it. You want to sink into him, because you did it. The crisis was averted, it’s all in a days work, but…
You were so close. He was so close.
You wonder what it’ll take the next time.

This is so perfectly Veronica. I could definitely see something like this happening during that scene: not completely admittng she loves him, but alluding to it enough that Logan is somewhat placated.
I love your icon, BTW.
Also, I figured that that was as quintessentially Veronica as you get. Not admitting anything. Or, only enough at least to get what she needs.
Your fics are amazing, as well as you.
Wonderful job.
Nicely done! I think you really got at how Veronica can't express herself, but tries every time.
Or well, you know.
Glad you liked it.
I keep thinking about the Tegan and Sara song with the same title.
hmmm..
:shoots a glare in the direction of LoVe: No more breaking, you two... just fix what you've already got!
Oh, if I only had a rubber room for them...
It made me all giddy for next week... thanks :D
I will cry my eyes out if they break up.
Yeah, you had me at this line. Just so brutally final. Great job!
Thanks again, for this :)
In fact, I want her to say it FIRST.
That is so not gonna happen.
We can still dream can't we? Besides, that's what fanfiction is for...to make it your way :)
It was really beautiful, just like all of your stories are. And made me happy and sad at the same time.
I hope she does give him something. He is just so great with her, and she totally doesn't appreciate it at all.
You did not sign on for this. You tell him so, hoping that you can still get a smile out of him at least.
You understand her so well... I just wanna shake her! -smirk-
Gorgeous work.
Especially if she doesn't say it back.
This was so tragically beautiful. I love the way she just can't bring herself to say "I love you." Anyway, I just wanted to say excellent writing (as always) and I loved this.
I'm so, so glad you liked it!
That was totally not my intention, although I'm superglad you dug it.
